HOME BULLETIN #8 – January 22, 2010

KUDOS TO MRS. KOHN
Dawn Kohn has completed all requirements for the Colloquy program for placement in the teaching ministry of the Lutheran Missouri Synod.  We know that Dawn has devoted her life to the care and education of God’s children just as the rest of our staff.  Upon completion of this program through Concordia University, she now has proven to have enriched her spiritual and professional life so that she can infuse sound doctrine in the work she does daily with the school’s children and families. Congratulation Mrs. Dawn Kohn!

HEARTS FOR JESUS
For the months of January – March, our chapel offerings will go to the Hearts for Jesus campaign.  These donations will be specifically directed to the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI).  The goal of the MLI is to mobilize the nearly 8 million Lutherans in the U.S. to join the battle against malaria, a preventable & treatable disease that kills more than 1 million people a year.  More information can be found at www.lutheranmalaria.org.

Attached is an envelope if you care to make a donation to this organization.  Checks can be made payable to “St. John’s” and note “Hearts for Jesus” on the memo.

Here’s how it works:  At a designated time, students will make deposits into either their own collection jar, or in another classroom’s jar.  Pennies count as a positive amount, while other coins and dollars will count as a negative against your amount.  Proceeds will go to the 7th & 8th grade Washington DC trip.
